The challenge lies in balancing the long-term benefits of adequate fiber intake with the need to minimize gastrointestinal distress during and after high-intensity running.

Fiber consumption supports multiple health markers that runners depend on. It feeds beneficial gut bacteria, improves cholesterol profiles, stabilizes blood sugar, and promotes regularity. Most runners fall short of the recommended 25 to 35 grams daily. However, increasing fiber too quickly or at the wrong time derails training and racing performance.
